Worth the Wait!

As you'll recall, my mom had a CA trip scheduled for last November, which was canceled due to a untimely injury at work. Good news is she is back in full swing again and rescheduled her visit to coincide with her birthday!

We had Grammy to ourselves for the better part of 2 weeks! What a treat!! It was a welcomed breath of fresh air to have another partner in crime to spend our days with. And boy, did we keep Grammy busy! Alston is go, go these days. We filled our days with lots of fun outtings; the farmers market and many parks, including Children's Fairyland. Alston had Grammy running ALLL over Fairyland...
There was barely time to slow down for lunch.
We also fit in a few hours at the Oakland Zoo. This was our first visit to this particular wild life park. We had the pleasure of enjoying a lovely small NJ zoo with our friend Tiffany last summer. So, this was Alston's 2nd zoo experience. I think he enjoyed it but it was difficult to get him to focus on the animals. Sometimes rocks or park benches seemed to rival some of the exhibited species. All in all, it's a really lovely zoo. Not a terribly vast menagerie of animals but lovely grounds and not nearly as "sadly" forgotten as some zoos.

We also finally made it down to Pie Ranch(near Pescadero, CA). We have numerous friends that rave about this place and participate in many activities to support this farm and pie shop. (Including a tandem bicycle pie delivery service!!)

Our budding farmer found his true tractor love.

This is a cow, right??

We did an overnight in Santa Cruz. In a solid one-two punch maneuver, we hit the pool in the AM and the beach in the afternoon(with the quintessential nap in the middle).

"Hey, I can see myself in there!?"

Oh, and I could go on....so much fun was had. As you can see it was a great visit and UBER full! There were delicious meals and wonderful mother-daughter conversations. I'm feeling a wee bit sad that our visit it over already. Why does time fly so quickly...
