Fall Days

Seems we are well in to autumn though I'm not sure where the summer went...
or all the time in general. Alston is fast approaching 3 years old! Funny to think that at some point we called him "Millimeter"!!! Now he's weighing between 35-40lbs and close to 3 feet tall. I'll be curious to hear the official weight/height at his upcoming annual physical.

This fall Alston has been showing a bit more shyness. He's still the joyous and chatty extrovert but he seems a bit more clingy with trepidations about strangers. And larger groups situations are not the most comfortable for him either. Perhaps cause he really loves to be center of attention...I guess this is the only child syndrome in effect, right?

Recently, we went to a farmers market and he was a bit freaked out saying "there are too many people, too many people!". Of course, this all subsided when a baker stand had a chocolate chip scone to offer...
A couple days later he asked me if we could go back to the "party with too many people and get another scone). I got a real good laugh out of that.

As both our work schedules have tapered a bit we have been filling it more family fun. Here is a sampling of things from over the weeks:

HISTORIC RAIL FAIR at ARDENWOOD FARMS
Yes, you guessed it a fair for train lovers featuring steam trains and models replicas!

COLLAGE ART at home.

We hit the San Francisco Center for the Book's Roadworks fair, which features printmaking by steamroller in the street. VERY popular. Alston even brought his streamroller and was practicing making his own pretend art.

A favorite here in our hood is the Black Cowboy Parade. The real draw is horses "running" in the streets as Alston says! But there are school marching bands and cheer squads and much more. And of course, lots of chance encounters with horses. Alston did not seem too interested in petting or sitting on any horses this year but his friends Clyde and Maggie both did!

(below: Dixon, Clyde, Alston and Patrick meet a white horse)
My fave in the parade...the corvette's with doors open in salute! (yes, they drove around like this!)
Maggie sitting on a cute little pony with her mom, Rachel.
I some how got Alston inside the fire truck that was out for the parade! (Rachel and baby, Thad in the background)
Gotta love our neighborhood....we saw this on our street on our way home from the parade. Can you say 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea??
