4 is the Magic Number!

King of his castle!!

Alston really got a kick out of the birthday festivities at his new school this year. He reveled in making his birthday crown. He picked the color and decorated it with stickers. His teacher, Kathy (pictured below) helped him get his crown ready and helped lift him high into the air, as part of the school's birthday tradition of raising the birthday person on chair - one time for each year old and an extra time for good luck. Alston got to pick the songs his class sang to him... he choose 2 songs (standard happy birthday and another hand holding birthday song). His other teacher, Par sang him Happy Birthday in Farsi and presented a #4 candle for him to blow out.

(Teacher Kathy and another co-op parent lifting Alston in celebration!)

Later that night we had our own celebration! We got lots of phone calls and packages from family! We even got to skype w/ Aunt Sue (Alston's birthday buddy!). They sang happy birthday to one another. Alston must have been taken by all the birthday singing today! He even requested that gDad sing happy birthday to him on the phone when he called(it was pretty cute!).

Clearly, presents are the BEST! And I got one too today, when Alston cuddled in to my arms in the very early morning and said "this is the warmest place on earth! And I'm gonna stay here for ever!"
