A Very Special Sleepover Guest

Over the next couple of months, Alston's school is sending "Baby Bear" home for over night visits with each child. The child gets to spend one special afternoon, overnight and morning with their special guest. Then they can include an entry and/or drawing in Baby Bears notebook about what they did during their visit.

Alston was lucky enough to be the 3rd child to host Baby Bear. He took his caregiver responsibility very seriously, making sure Baby Bear was buckled in on his way home in car. Patrick and I both noted that this project brought out a tenderness that we have not seen the likes of previously. He really enjoyed caring for his friend - getting him the high chair to sit in, making him a special bed to sleep in, solving the problem that "Baby Bear had no pants!".

Alston was pretty excited to have Baby Bear meet "BIG Bear", who lives at the library. Note: Baby Bear has his new pants on as it would not be appropriate to go in public without such. Must stay dry too!

It was an epic meeting! Turns out Big Bear and Baby Bear have LOTS in common!

All that excitement was exhausting and it was super fun to take a nap with Baby Bear!

Then a bit of crafting and working our Baby Bear's notebook entry.

Over all it was a pretty adorable afternoon and evening. We were pretty worn out by the end. Though there was still energy to corral ALL of Alston's bear friends for story-time, tooth-brushing and get everyone tucked into the bear bed that was set-up next to Alston's bed.

Below is Alston's log entry in Baby Bears notebook, which includes a miniature book tethered to a pocket.  If you click on the pictures of the notebook pages, you'll be able to view them at a larger scale and hopefully read what Alston had to say about his overnight with Baby Bear.

This was a really heart-warming day. Amazing how Baby Bear changed his behavior and demeanor!
