Stopping to Smell the Roses... and Doodle in the Condensation!

There are many amazing things about parenting but one that might appreciate the most is how kids remind us to enjoy the wonder of the world. Often we have busy days, rushing to this and that. Hurrying to make breakfast or dinner to get on to the next thing. Days like today I realize maybe Alston has more to TEACH ME about going slow and truly SEEing what the world has to offer.

The sun beams slid down the sidewalk draping over the neighboring parked cars. Upon the car was an even dappled coat of condensation that sparkled in the sunlight. It was magic. It begged to be a canvas. We were late to school... but did it really matter. Taking some time out to doodle in the condensation was SO WORTH IT!

Just taking a few moments out to appreciate life really set the tone for a lovely day. And it was beautiful...a great California winter day. Sunny and a warm 66 degrees! After picking Alston up from school, we decided to grab lunch outside and head to the park to fully enjoy a perfect afternoon.
