Ta-HO-HO-HO!! (the wrap-up)

All day before leaving, Alston was chanting "Ta-HO, Ta-HO!". He was quite amped about making it up to the mountains...where he heard there would be LOTS of snow. After last years "snow bust" in Tahoe, I triple checked the snow conditions before setting this promise up. And BOY, was there snow! There was no fresh snow but epic amounts of fun stuff to play in. By my standards, it was pretty optimal - the weather was quite warm (afternoons hit high 30s). Wearing all the snow gear we were almost TOO warm playing in the snow.

The first day (shown a little in previous post) we were able to meet up w/ some friends (neighbors, Sara and Jeff & Fay with their son Lee). We did some sledding behind Sara's family vacation house.

Day 2 - Patrick, Alston and I hit the North Tahoe Regional Park - where they have some groomed (and affordable) sledding hills. Upon arriving we opted to skip the "pay" hills for some smaller free "bunny" hills at the park entrance. These turned out to be perfect for Alston, as they were big enough for the thrill but also small enough that he was happy to run back up the hill to go again. And also small enough for him to "brave" on his own.

Snow eating is still a favorite past time!

The regional park is right by the lake, so I could not resist popping a couple lake shots. It hardly looks like winter!

Later in the afternoon, we played in the yard at "Clyde's Snow House" (aka our friend Stefanie/Dixon's place in Truckee, where we stayed). This pictures give you an idea how deep the snow was - just below adult knee height in most places.
Snow in the face is COLD!

Day 3 - back at Sara's family house...playing/tubing with Lee. The 2 kids were ridiculously cute. They'd squish into the tube together and hold hands all the way down the hill.

 More snow eating....

Last run of the day! Sad to see our snow weekend come to an end though I'm so happy that we were able to finally get this trip together! AND incredibly thankful to our friends Stefanie, Dixon and Clyde for lending us their cozy Truckee home! It was soo good to get out of town, mix up our routines and have some snowy good times!
